The Danish microbrewery ÅBEN were opening in Århus and needed an interior to reflect their brand identity and to match the same high standard of their finely brewed product. Their homage is to openness, which also inspired the name – ÅBEN (a Danish phrase that means “to be open”); being open about the products, open to new ideas, and open to creative collaborations.
This resulted in an inviting space full of subtle yet tactile textures, surfaces and materials. A “normcoresque” and scandinavian vibe but rooted in the storytelling of the brand with a warm and natural colour scheme and layering of surfaces.
The design features beautiful detailing from custom made pieces, handpicked furniture and bespoke art installations of dried wheat, hops and other ingredients inspired by the brewery’s products.
